Visiting with our oldest daughter, Katy, this weekend. Enjoying being away and spending some quality time as a family on this long Valentines’ Day weekend. Our journey here was a little unusual as we were traveling with 4 people and 2 dogs in our Jeep, hauling a washer and dryer (a present from Grandma) in a U-haul trailer.
We don’t usually travel with the dogs and are usually in our spacious van. Needless to say, we arrived with dog hair all over us. If you are a lab and you only have a small space between 2 people in the back seat to be, you have one of 2 options…1)stand with your front legs on the floor and your back legs on the seat or 2)you sit on the seat with your head in someone’s lap. Or if you are Snickers (our black lab/hound mix), 3)you keep trying both options the entire 3 1/2 hour trip. Ugh!

Upon arrival at Katy’s we were greeted with a scrumptious meal of Hawaiian chicken, broiled asparagus and roasted potatoes. I was reminded that Katy did learn how to cook even though some of us doubted it while she was still at home. Katy’s comment was, “I learned from the best. Nanny and you mom”. Aaawww! Bless her little heart. She is such a gem.
Today we girls (with the boys tagging along) had to shop at “Charming Charlies”. If you don’t have one near you, you should find one. “Charming Charlies” is an accessories store filled with jewelry, purses, scarves etc. all organized by color. A girl’s paradise. Hum! Maybe that’s why I like it so much…Organized by color. That’s only part of it. I go to pick out a belated birthday present from Katy, a replacement for a Christmas present my husband gave me that had to be returned and a Valentine present from my hubby. Woohoo! Katy and Caroline picked out a valentine present too. We came back to Katy’s apartment to a beautiful lunch of Taco soup and cornbread made by Katy. It was delicious!
This evening after a quick bite to eat at Zaxby’s we scrounged up full price ticket money, (which we never do) and went to the Regal Stadium 16 movie theater to see the movie, “Hail, Caesar”. Big mistake!!!!! It was awful. Big name stars who contributed to a big name flop in my opinion. The plot was awful. If you can actually call it a plot. My daughter said “the best part was watching Channing Tatum tap dance.” Not worth a ticket priced over $11. “What a waste of time and money”, my son said. The popcorn was decent though. The company was great! That’s what was more important.
Tomorrow it’s church with Katy, Valentine’s Sunday Lunch and home. So blessed to have a weekend away. Love on your family everyday but spoil them on Valentine’s Day!
